Calm After The Storm

My sanity lies between your thighs
My ego is evoked from the lies
I tell myself.

Sometimes I act like I’m codependent
on just the beats from my heart
But there’s always something missing.

Most times, I think of the possibilities
Like how the sun feels at twilight
Knowing the moon is just an orbit away.

I knew you in the first poems I wrote
I met you in the first songs I loved
And in your eyes I see my children.

So love me like I love you,
My soul is on fire
And you’re the only calm after the storm.

Leaving your side is death,
A life worthless; a death meaningless.
My sanity lies in your existence.
